Whether he’s wading through wetlands in Kakadu on the trail of the elusive Gouldian finch or spinning smooth tunes at an inner-city club, Bernhard Schmitz has one thing firmly in mind: decisively capturing the moment.

An intrepid lover of the great outdoors, the Vienna-born, Sydney-based Schmitz travels extensively throughout Australia, photographing a diverse range of subjects – from exotic flora and fauna to spectacular scenery, urban nightlife and lifestyle imagery.

His fascination with all things feathered has spawned the witty Bird Of The Week blog, while his passion for rare Northern and Modern Soul has generated an impressive vinyl collection, a radio show (Sounds of Soul on 89.7FM Eastside FM) and seen him DJ in both Australia and abroad.
